Mujib: The Making of a Nation
This film holds historical significance as it is the first government-produced biopic about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and is being made to commemorate Mujib Year.
Notably, the lead actors, Arifin Shuvoo, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, and Zayed Khan, have shown their dedication by accepting a nominal fee of only ৳1 for their roles in this film.
Originally scheduled to commence production on March 18, 2020, to coincide with Bangabandhu's birth centenary, the film faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Director Shyam Benegal expressed his happiness at helming this project and praised Bangabandhu, emphasizing his close relationship with India. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, expressed optimism about the film, predicting that it would be a significant milestone in the history of Bangladeshi cinema.
The film boasts an experienced crew, with Nitish Roy serving as the art director, Pia Benegal as the costume director, and Dayal Nihalani as the associate director. Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi are responsible for the screenplay. Nujhat Yasmin takes on the role of executive producer, while Mohammad Hossain Jaimy serves as the line producer. Sadhana Ahmed fulfills multiple roles, including dialogue writer, script supervisor, and dialogue coach. Shyam Rawat and Baharuddin Khelon are the casting directors for the film.
